Attic Mold & Crawlspace Mold in Wilmington & Philadelphia
One of the top locations for mold in a preexisting home is the attic. Often times during the home purchasing or selling process a home inspector will note mold in the attic. This is often times the result of either a roof leak, poor ventilation or some other previous condition that is no longer present.
Can attic mold cause health problems?
Typically speaking attic mold doesn't affect the indoor air quality of most homes. If the home however has air exchange between the attic and the living space there may be reason to test the home for an amplified level of mold spores and potentially remediate via contents cleaning.
Does my sheathing/roof need to be replaced?
In most cases, attics can be treated with Environix's two stage treatment. The first stage kills the mold and the second stage provides a protective coating against future infestations and conditions. This is much less expensive than replacing your roof and is the most logical way of performing remediation. Also, we are able to warranty our work for 7 years!
I was told that I can kill mold with bleach. Is this a good option?
No. We don't ever recommend that clients use products outside of what the manufacture recommends. Bleach is not recommended for porous surfaces or for killing mold spores. Also the gases can be very intense for building occupants.
